Jaipur, the "Pink City," provided the Mughal Empire with its generals even as its civilians were building some of the world's great temples and palaces. Here travelers find the Hawa Mahal, the Hall of Winds, built with red and pink sandstone. One of Rajasthan's other great cities, Jodhpur, is less know to the world, even though it loaned its name to a style of riding breeches. Maxa goes into the royal rooms behind the sandstone walls of the Mehrangarh Fort, perched high above the city. In the back streets of Jodhpur, cameras find the enormous furniture industry that collects and refurbishes heirloom furniture that make their way to stores around the world. In the dusty countryside outside of Jodhpur, villagers who have never have seen a Westerner invite Rudy Maxa into their modest homes, and the maharajah of Jodhpur explains why his palace is now a hotel. Liberty Or Death
00:56
APTEX
When England taxed the American colonies to pay for the French and Indian war, the colonies became enraged and ardently resisted. In Virginia, Patrick Henry brought the issue to the forefront. His impassioned plea at the second Virginia Convention of 1775, "Give me liberty or give me death," defined the American Revolution. This docu-drama captures this seminal moment in American history by balancing experts' commentary on the events preceding the second Virginia Convention with dramatic re-enactments of the historic moments that followed. Actors portraying founding fathers George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and other delegates bring the convention to life as another character, convention clerk John Tazwell, narrates the unfolding action. Historians also explain the lasting significance of the convention and Henry's stirring speech. Recorded at St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia, the very place the speech was given during the 2nd Virginia Convention of 1775.

"Calf Creek Arrow/Doc Holliday Watch/Black Star Line Certificates"
00:56
#408Z
(Rpt)
PBS
CALF CREEK ARROW: An Oklahoma resident discovered an unusual bison skull, while fossil-hunting in a dry riverbed. Lodged in the bone was a handmade point, which the contributor believes dates back to the Calf Creek culture, around 3000 B.C. Could this be just another hoax, or an incredible archeological discovery? DOC HOLLIDAY WATCH: Four years ago, a pawn store clerk in Tulsa, OK, met a customer with a pawned antique watch, engraved with a potentially historic inscription. Could this watch have been a gift from the fearless frontier lawman Wyatt Earp to the dentist, gambler, and gunman "Doc" Holliday, perhaps in gratitude for his help fighting the Clanton outlaw gang at the OK Corral? BLACK STAR LINE CERTIFICATES: A woman recently found two Black Star Line stock certificates that had been purchased by her great grandfather in 1919. What looked like a Marcus Garvey signature saved the papers from the trashcan. Garvey founded the steamship company through his United Negro Improvement Association in 1919.

Rick decides to beat the heat and get out of the kitchen with a mostly made-ahead backyard cookout a la Mexicana, inspired by one of his world-favorite meat eateries: El Canelo, near Guadalajara. It's a sprawling outdoor restaurant with dirt floors and strolling Mariachis, where slabs of succulent pork, lamb, goat and beef roast slowly on spikes in a walk-in wood-fired pit. And it's wood, not charcoal, that gives the meat its unforgettable smoky flavor, so Rick offers a quick lesson in setting up a home grill for wood-fired cooking. The menu is as casual as it is mouthwatering. For starters, there's an Heirloom Tomato "Carpaccio" with tomatillo, avocado and fresh herbs-a salad made with tomatoes grown in "Earth Boxes" (part of a groundbreaking educational program that teaches sustainable practices to kids all over the world) . And then, there's the cookout: sizzling Carne Asada Brava-rib eye steak.

The Farnsworth House near Chicago is an icon of 20th-century modernist domestic architecture. The one-story masterpiece of steel and glass, with its simple geometric designs and transparent walls, reflects architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's minimalist expression of structure and space. This is the compelling story of van der Rohe's vision and his often tempestuous relationship with his client, D. Edith Farnsworth--a relationship filled with romantic intrigue and contentious legal battles.
