Ming's Ponzu-Soy Vinaigrette makes for a great marinade, sauce, or dressing. Made with citrus, ponzu is wildly popular in Japanese cuisine. It's also incredibly versatile, as Ming demonstrates with his Oven-Roasted Swordfish with Lentil de Puy Salad and Grilled Ponzu-Marinated Chicken with Orzo Risotto. In addition to the risotto, Ming re-interprets another Italian favorite, carpaccio, by using broiled shrimp. Then, Ming pays a visit to Marco in Boston's North End, where chef Marc Orfaly shows him the traditional preparation for carpaccio. Back in the studio, guest chef Patricia Yeo of AZ in New York makes a tantalizing Whole Fried Fish with Sizzling Lime-Ponzu Sauce and Pineapple Fried Rice.

Two brothers from Parsippany, NJ, grew up listening to their uncle's claim that he built the engine for the Spirit of St. Louis--the plane made famous by Charles Lindbergh's nonstop flight across the Atlantic. The family legend leads to a forgotten history in Lucky Lindy's legendary flight. A man in Kansas City, MO, found two peculiar pins, wrapped in a newspaper dated 1960, that had been manipulated to contain liquid. Could these pins be the prototypes of a poison-filled pin that U2 pilot Gary Powers was carrying when his spy-plane was shot down over the Soviet Union? A New Mexico woman's great-great-grandfather was lieutenant governor of the New Mexico territory in the 1870s. She has a photo of an Indian warrior on horseback. Off the coast of Maine, scientists fear that pair-trawling, a controversial fishing practice is resulting in unreported bycatch and could lead to localized depletion of herring stocks in the Atlantic. At the bottom of the food chain, herring are an important resource to both fisherman and larger marine life. Wild Chronicles reports on a campaign lead by the Pew Environmental Group to reassess fishing quotas and to better monitor fishing practices. National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Spencer Wells has traced humanity's origins back 50,000 years as the lead investigator of the Genographic Project, a groundbreaking genetic study of man. In an effort to create the ultimate family tree for all of mankind, Wells heads into the field to see where your ancestors originated. In Colorado, a thundering waterfall frozen in mid-cascade tempts a pair of adventurers on a dangerous quest.

#103
EPS
In 1961, Soviet scientists were ready to test the most powerful bomb ever. At over 100 megatons, the force of the explosion would be equal to that of 10,000 Hiroshima bombs.
The brinkmanship of the Cuban missile crisis a year later demonstrated to the world how tenuous the stalemate had become. Against all odds, Russia's nuclear patriots had played the Americans at their own game--but the question of whether they would actively contribute to the wagingof nuclear war remained. For some scientists, including Andrei Sakharov, the prospect of creating such a deadly legacy proved too much. For others, it was the profound desire to fulfil their patriotic and scientific duty which drove them on. Using previously unseen archive film and first time interviews with surviving witnesses, Russia's Nuclear Patriots tells the story of the unknown men and women of Russia who dedicated their lives to the development of the Hydrogen bomb--the greatest weapon of mass destruction ever known. #307
WLIW
