The lives of a group of young Palestinian men working illegally as construction laborers in the Israeli city of Modi'in are documented. Caught between Israeli security laws and a Palestinian Authority they believe has failed them, they work for Israeli contractors by day while hiding from police by night. Like youths everywhere, they pass their idle hours talking about love, marriage and future hopes. Israeli filmmaker Ido Haar has crafted a powerful verite film that illuminates the plight of young men questioning their own culture while struggling to survive in the midst of bitter conflict.

Some of the enormous adobe pyramids that still tower over the vast Peruvian countryside are surveyed. South American archaeological expert Axel Nielsen guides host David Yetman through the premier museum of South America, the Royal Tombs of Sipan, which house some of the richest gold artifacts in the world. From there, they trek to Huaca del Sol and Huaca del Luna, immense pyramids that emphasize the duality and symbolism of the pre-Incan societies. The last archeological stop is Chan Chan, an area known for its walls of design and decoration, which stretch as far as the eye can see. Finally, local fisherman construct and then navigate their boats made out of totora reeds in the same manner as their pre-Ican ancestors. Observe how these "caballitos del mar" (sea horses) are used daily to harvest fish from the sea.

A beautiful, worn banjo was purchased by a Chicago resident on an online auction. A tattered note inside says the banjo dates to the mid-1800s and was bought from a former slave in Bethel, OH, by an abolitionist family some time after Emancipation. Could this be the only slave banjo known to exist? A California resident came across a family tree, which contained the words "United Empire Loyalist" scribbled alongside several names. She began her own investigation and discovered that the United Empire Loyalists were descendants of the more than 50,000 people who fled to Canada following the defeat of the British in the Revolutionary War.

Siddall explains how leeches are used when reattaching fingers and toes become engorged with excess blood that must be drained off. Next, Tyson explores how the research of a curious astronomer named Frank Drake has evolved. In 1960, he aimed a radio telescope at a couple of nearby stars and started listening. More than 40 years later, we're still listening, and SETI--the search for extraterrestrial intelligence has expanded big-time, beginning the systematic survey of millions of star systems for signs of advanced civilizations. In Japan, researchers discovered a way to "turn back the clock" on adult skin cells to create what look like embryonic stem cells--special cells normally found in a growing embryo that have the ability to become any type of cell in the body. Tyson investigates. And, Edie Widder is interviewed. She records invisible to sea creatures with an innovative camera.
