Production costs are explored, with special emphasis on the concept of productivity and the importance of strong labor-management relations. Also: the impact of a change in the number of firms on an industry (i.e., entry and exit). These concepts are demonstrated graphically using the market model. The lesson incorporates video clips of various manufacturing processes from the copper industry, the airline industry, and the Ford Motor Company. Finally, interviews with the CEO, the Manufacturing Manager, and the General Manager of Packaged Foods of the Wolfgang Puck Food Company and the Chairman of Southwest Airlines further demonstrate how these concepts are applied.

Born in Havana in 1930, Omara Portuondo began her career in the cabarets of that city, not the least of which was the famed Tropicana. Although she toured internationally, her second trajectory to international stardom was launched with the 1996 landmark Buena Vista Social Club album and documentary. This 2005 Montreal Jazz Festival performance springs from her 2000 solo album of the same name. OMARA PORTUONDO captures the feel of a long-ago night in the tropics featuring Omara and her all-star Cuban band, elegantly supported by I Musici de Montreal, a 16-piece string orchestra that discreetly underscores the romantic component of her timeless repertoire.

Michael Aspel introduces the Roadshow from Shugborough Hall, the ancestral home of the Earls of Lichfield, and now the property of the National Trust. The present Earl is Patrick Lichfield, the photographer. The house is just a few miles from Lichfield, and its Cathedral with three spires. Shugborough hall is on the edge of Cannock Chase. Plunder on the high seas financed the rebuilding of the hall in classical style and the gardens were the first in England to use architectural features, follies, temples, and so on, as part of the landscape. Many of these were designed by James 'Athenian' Stuart.
