About Cooking Simply for the Soul

Tyler Brown
Host of Cooking Simply for the Soul

Tyler Brown cooks up chili, cornbread, chicken soup, fried fish and other tummy warmers generously seasoned with self-esteem, stress-busters, goal-setting, and other aspects of personal growth in a new series on Milwaukee Public Television.

COOKING SIMPLY FOR THE SOUL is a 13-part series featuring Brown, a motivational speaker and life coach. Brown runs T.B. Inc., an agency that focuses on motivation, personal growth and development training.

Brown describes herself as a self-taught cook extraordinaire and says that her series may be the first of its kind in the country because it combines motivational material with cooking. She specializes in cooking delicious meals with "plenty to spare and share."

The programs combine topics such as baking bread with rising above adversity, cooking black-eyed peas with maintaining a positive attitude, and sharing the kitchen with her mother and the importance of families.

As a child, Brown lived in Milwaukee low income housing projects and learned the importance of motivation for individuals struggling with obstacles. Now a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, she draws on her experiences as an African-American female to bring sensitivity and awareness to her clients.

Brown has held training and management positions in both industry and government, including the State of Wisconsin, Allstate Insurance, and the Milwaukee Urban League.

TB Inc., founded in 1987, has worked with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin, Goodwill Industries, and many other agencies.
