MPTV Community Cinema: FREE Screening of TAKING ROOT

TAKING ROOT, an Independent Lens production. Wangari Maathai of Kenya suggested rural women plant trees in 1977 to address problems stemming from a degraded environment. Under her leadership, their tree-planting grew into a nationwide movement to safeguard the environment, defend human rights and promote democracy.
MPTV Community Cinema is a monthly screening series, September through May, that previews local and national films. Screenings are followed by a panel discussion, featured speaker, or other presentation. Educational and/or civic engagement materials are made available, and audiences are invited to participate in discussions and receive information about opportunities for further involvement on the issues discussed in their local community. All screenings are free and open to the public.
With the exception of a "special" preview, all events are held at Discovery World's Innovation Theater, 500 N. Harbor Drive in Milwaukee and start at 6:30 p.m.
Parking in the Discovery World's parking lot is $5.00 for the event. Unless posted, parking on nearby city streets is free.
