In each episode of Around the Corner with John McGivern, historian John Gurda shares the history of each featured community. Some stories take longer to tell than the few minutes he has in each episode, so we've devoted the final episode of this season to John Gurda! This preview features 30 minutes of this hour-long special.
In this final episode, Gurda covers 6 topics: the Milwaukee River, Norskedalen, the Manhattan Project of WWII in West Allis, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin's two Basilicas, and Three Bridges Park in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley. Who knew history could be so interesting?
Currently in its 3rd season, Emmy-award winning AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN highlights 13 communities throughout Wisconsin. Each episode features the unique qualities of one community, and McGivern goes behind the scenes to talk with employers, residents and other people familiar with the locale to discover how they live, work and play.
"The Gurda Hour" episode airs on Thursday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. on MPTV 10.
