FREE YOUNG WRITERS WORKSHOP: Open to the Public
Thursday, October 28, 2010 / 10:30 am
Join MPTV's Darlyne Haertlein, outreach supervisor and coordinator of MPTV's PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest and learn the process of creating an illustrated story. Writing a story for the joy of writing is the primary focus of the workshop. However, the workshop is also designed to motivate students to enter the 2011 Writers Contest, sponsored for 17 years by Milwaukee Public Television.
Participants will see copies of award-winning children's entries from previous years. Active discussion will help participants identify elements of story and illustration that judges look for when selecting books in a competition. (The MPTV contest deadline for entries is Monday, March 7, 2011.)
Registration is not required, but space is limited. For more information, call Darlyne Haertlein at 414-297-7418 or Terika Koch, Patron Services Manager of the Frank L. Weyenberg Library of Mequon-Thiensville at 262-242-2593.
The library is located at 11345 N. Cedarburg Road in Mequon.
