MPTV Community Cinema: DEEP DOWN

Thursday, November 4, 2010 / 6:30 pm

Join us at Discovery World for MPTV Community Cinema on Thursday, November 4 at 6:30 p.m. See a big screen preview of DEEP DOWN, a 60 minute Independent Lens production. FREE and open to the public.

Beverly May and Terry Ratliff grew up on opposite sides of a mountain ridge in eastern Kentucky, where coal is king. When a mountaintop removal coal mine encroaches on their community, the two find themselves on opposite sides of a debate that divides their community and the world--who controls, consumes, and benefits from the planet's dwindling supply of natural resources? What can a community do when it must choose between its present and its future?

Connect what happens in Kentucky with what is happening here at home. Join in the open discussion with Joseph Jacobsen-MATC Associate Dean-Environmental Studies, Director of ECAM and Energy.
