Types of Bequest & Sample Bequest Wording
Bequests to MPTV have helped provide the foundation upon which we are building today. Your legacy will ensure that Milwaukee Public Television is an even stronger community organization tomorrow.
- Outright Bequest

An outright bequest leaves a specific sum or property to MPTV.
- Expressed as a specific sum of money:
I give to MPTV the sum of $___. - Expressed as a specific asset or item:
I give to MPTV ____. - Expressed as a percentage:
I give to MPTV ___% of my estate.
- Expressed as a specific sum of money:
- Residuary Bequest
- A residuary bequest is a bequest of all, or a portion, of your estate after other specific bequests have been made.
- Contingent Bequest
- A contingent bequest leaves your estate, or a percentage of your estate to MPTV if your beneficiaries do not survive you.
- Testamentary Life Income Gift
- A testamentary life income gift is a plan where MPTV would receive the principal of a trust that will first pay lifetime income to those whom you designate in your estate plans. Please see charitable remainder trusts
- Undesignated Bequest
- For an undesignated bequest you may add "for its general use and purposes" to the above statements.
- Designate a Preferred Area
- To designate a preferred area you may add, “to be used to benefit Milwaukee Public Television's ______.” (fine arts programming, children's programming, for example).

*When including Milwaukee Public Television in your planned giving, please use the designation "MPTV Fund." All contributions to support Milwaukee Public Television are administered by MPTV's Development Department and are deposited solely for use by MPTV in the MPTV Fund within the MATC Foundation, a not-for-profit organization under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3).
