Melinda Myers

Host of Great Lakes Gardener, is an instructor in horticulture at the Milwaukee Area Technical College and holds a master's degree in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She has been host of the Plant Doctor Radio Show on WTMJ AM radio since 1982 and writes a garden column for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She hosted Wisconsin Lawn and Garden, a weekly program on Milwaukee Public Television, from 1996 to 1999.

A garden editor and columnist for "Birds and Blooms" magazine, Myers has written five books about gardening in the upper midwest and related topics. She has received numerous awards for her professional work including a Distinguished Service Award from the Wisconsin Arborist Association and the Gold Leaf Award for Arbor Day from the International Society of Aboriculture.

The Garden Writers Association of America honored her with a Quill & Trowel Award in 1998 for her on-air work at MPTV. The American Nurserymen Association chose Myers to receive its national 1998 Garden Communicators Award for her outstanding contributions to the public's appreciation of plants and landscaping.
