| Great
Lakes Gardener will offer a second season of gorgeous gardens and
great growing tips for plant lovers from Minnesota to New York beginning
in early May. The weekly, half-hour series provides advice and plant
lore for gardeners in the Great Lakes region and beyond.
Produced
by Milwaukee Public Television, the program features the latest
horticultural information about everything from saving seeds and
peony hybridization to choosing proven garden plants and a variety
of other topics. The 22-part series will run into early October
and resume the following May. Two winter specials also are available
by request.
Produced
in high definition, each episode showcases its horticultural content
with clear, clean images and colorful, eye-catching graphics.
The program spends all of its time on location, visiting homes and
parks as well as such famous sites as the Chicago Botanic Gardens
and the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
Melinda
K. Myers, an experienced television and radio personality, is host
of Great Lakes Gardener. She provides gardener-friendly advice as
well as leading explorations of unique garden sites and interviewing
experts from related areas.
An instructor at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Myers holds a
master’s degree in horticulture and has written five books. She
has earned awards from the Garden Writers of America and other national
organizations for her on-air work as a gardening expert.
Information
in the series fits growing seasons in the Great Lakes region, including
parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, and New York as well as Ontario and Quebec in Canada.
Viewers throughout the Midwest and virtually the entire country
also will be able to benefit from the content.
