Vacation Station 2010 “I am the Fit Generation”
The 2010 Vacation Station summer project focuses on a healthy lifestyle for children. Now in its sixteenth year, Vacation Station encourages children aged four through twelve to make the best use of their summer vacation and improve their eating and activity habits.
Thirty thousand booklets, distributed free of charge to children at libraries, recreation centers and youth-serving community organizations in southeastern Wisconsin, are often used as an incentive to encourage summer reading. The 2010 issue included health information, games, recipes, a poster contest and a healthy kids challenge tracker. Plans for a 2011 booklet are in progress.

Winners receive a family pass for one visit to the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, a gift certificate from Artist and Display and two books. Prizes are sent in the mail. The ten winning posters will be featured in an interstitial on Milwaukee Public Television in the fall of 2010.
