The history of voter rights in America is examined with historians Kenneth O'Reilly (Ph.D., MATC) and Robert Smith (Ph.D., UWM), and looks at what some consider current efforts at voter suppression. The "Freedom Summer Exhibit" coordinated by Michael Edmonds from the Wisconsin Historical Society is reviewed; and Gwen Gillon, a Madison resident who worked with the Student Non-Violet Coordinating Committee to register voters in the south, is interviewed.

"Risking Everything: A Freedom Summer Exhibit for Students" will be at the Downtown branch of the Milwaukee Public Library July 1-18, 2014.

Michael Edmonds, Coordinator of the Exhibit will speak at the Library on July 12, at 2 pm.
