Thinking Inside the Box

YOUR FAVORITE MPTV PROGRAMS NOW "ON DEMAND"

by Ellis Bromberg, General Manager of MPTV

It used to be that we would broadcast a TV program, and that would be it. If you didn't see it, you'd have to wait for it to be repeated.

If you knew how to program your VCR, you'd have a fighting chance. (To my shame as a media professional, I never mastered that skill.) Or you could call the station and see if we had a tape of the program for sale.

With our busy lifestyles, viewers expect more options these days. And we are pleased to join with Time Warner Cable to announce another way you can view most of our locally produced programs when you miss them.

Subscribers to Time Warner's digital tier have access, at no additional cost, to their Wisconsin On Demand (WIOD) service on channel 1111. A number of community organizations have placed their videos on WIOD - and now Milwaukee Public Television has joined the family!

Ten ongoing MPTV series will be available through WIOD: BLACK NOUVEAU, 4TH STREET FORUM, GREAT LAKES GARDENER, INTERCHANGE, INTERNATIONAL FOCUS, I REMEMBER, OUTDOOR WISCONSIN, REDEFINING SMART, TRACKS AHEAD, and ADELANTE! So will most specials.

Weekly programs will generally be accessible on MPTV ON DEMAND for a week after they're broadcast on MPTV-10 or MPTV-36; monthly programs and specials will generally be available for replay for two weeks.

Viewers who have the digital tier of Time Warner Cable need only to tune to channel 1111 and select the MPTV ON DEMAND link. A listing of the most recent program from each series will appear. Select one and you can watch it as many times as you'd like! If you want to take a break, you can pause the replay and then resume the program when you're ready.

We at MPTV are actively looking into other ways we can ensure you can easily view one of our programs, even if you miss the initial broadcast.
