SEASON PREMIERE OF AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN TO BE FEATURED AT MPTV'S COMMUNITY CINEMA

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 17, 2012 - Milwaukee Public Television's Community Cinema will offer a preview and discussion of the season two premiere of AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN on Thursday, January 3 at 6:30 p.m. and will repeat at 7:30 p.m. The preview event, which takes place at Discovery World, is free and open to the public.
AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN explores a new community each week. The series explores life in 13 Wisconsin communities, focusing on the unique qualities of one area in each episode. McGivern goes behind the scenes to talk with employers, residents and other people familiar with the locale to discover how they live, work and play. The 30-minute episodes also feature background information on each locale from local history expert John Gurda.
The premiere episode will highlight the community of Shorewood. John visits Hubbard Park Lodge, Atwater Park, Benji's Deli, the Table Tennis Club, the Garden Room, the Sophisticated Rose and Goody Gourmet's. This episode of AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN will highlight how Shorewood is truly a close-knit community with a familiar feel because of some long-standing community treasures.
Following the preview of AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN, a panel discussion will follow and includes John McGivern and Milwaukee historian John Gurda.
The program will air on Thursday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. on MPTV 10.1 HD and 36.2.
