Milwaukee Public Television has promoted Sharon Fischer-Toerpe to Senior Specialist-Auction. She is primarily responsible for directing MPTV's Great TV Auction, which in 2013 will take place from April 26 to May 4.

Fischer-Toerpe's new role at MPTV is to oversee the efforts of the action staff and the hundreds of auction volunteers that make the event possible. Through the Great TV Auction, she is responsible for raising approximately $1,000,000 annually. Fischer-Toerpe has 8 years of experience in various roles related to the Great TV Auction. Prior to this promotion, she served as the interim Senior Specialist-Auction.

"This year will be my 9th auction, and each year it's like Christmas to me; getting all the donations in and bringing all the donors, volunteers and buyers together," said Fischer-Toerpe. "I'm thrilled to continue working to keep the Milwaukee Public Television auction the number one public television auction in the country."

MPTV's Great TV Auction offers merchandise and services donated from area businesses and individuals to be auctioned off to viewers. Funds raised are used to purchase quality programming and maintain equipment for MPTV. This event is the largest public television auction in the U.S., based on ratings and net revenue.
