MPTV'S CHANNEL 36 TO BE RUN BY MATC STUDENTS FOR STUDENT OPERATIONS DAY
May 9, 2013
On Saturday, May 11, Milwaukee Public Television will be turned over to Milwaukee Area Technical College students from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 12. This year marks the 43rd year that MATC students enrolled in its Television and Video Production (TVP) program will have the opportunity to handle the operations of the station for the day, and create and broadcast student-produced programs throughout the day.
Student Operations Day will air on MPTV 36.1 and streamed online at www.mptv.org. Over 25 programs developed, created and produced by students in MATC's TVP program will be aired on May 11th. There will be live, in-studio segments airing between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Said Kevin Pulz, Program Coordinator of the Television and Video Production/School of Media and Creative Arts at Milwaukee Area Technical College, "Once again our students, who learn hands-on every day at MPTV, will be taking over programming for channel 36.1 for a full broadcast day. The experiences gained at MPTV not only help them showcase their talents during this annual production event, but also help prepare them for their future careers in the industry. The level of creativity and skill exhibited by this group of graduating MATC Advanced TV students is very high and, honestly, quite good!"
