LOCALLY-PRODUCED "¡ADELANTE!" TO PREMIERE ITS 15TH SEASON

September 12, 2013

MPTV Program Is Milwaukee's Longest-Running Program Focused on Latino Issues

¡ADELANTE! will premiere its 15th season on Tuesday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m. on MPTV 10.1 HD and 36.2. The MPTV-produced program is broadcast also on V-me, Spanish language channel, 10.3.

"We are so proud to reach this milestone on ¡ADELANTE! - fifteen continuous seasons focusing on issues affecting Milwaukee's Latino population." said Patricia Gomez, producer and host of ¡ADELANTE! since its inception. "The success of our show is truly due to the strong support it has in this community. Latinos make up only 13.9% of the Milwaukee County population, so it's a huge achievement that that we've had such a long-running program."

The season premiere will include an interview with Milwaukee immigration attorney Maria Ryan. Ryan will discuss legal issues as it relates to immigration, such as family reunification, deferred action and immigration reform. The season premiere will also feature an update to the ¡ADELANTE! report on the Milwaukee County Zoo jaguar breeding program that resulted in two cubs being fathered by "Pat the Cat", a rescue animal from Belize.

Of special note this season, ¡ADELANTE!, on October 29, will take a close look at innovative efforts in the Racine Unified School District - starting at the kindergarten level - to close the graduation gap between minority and non-minority students. This special is a companion to the two-part, INDEPENDENT LENS: THE GRADUATES which details the unique challenges Latino boys and girls face to succeed in and graduate from high school in America.

¡ADELANTE! is a weekly, locally produced series celebrating the rich heritage of Latino people. The program airs in Spanish with subtitles in English. Program segments originally taped in English are captioned in Spanish.

New episodes of ¡ADELANTE! will be broadcast on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. on MPTV 10.1 HD and 36.2, and will be re-broadcast on Wednesdays at 12:30 a.m. and Sundays at 6:00 p.m. on MPTV 36.1 HD, Fridays at 6:00 p.m. and Sundays at 8:00 a.m. on MPTV V-me 10.3.
