Milwaukee Public Television will collect new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves October 7 -25 to help families who are in need this winter.

The 6th annual "Mittens & More" community service project is seeking donations of new mittens and other cold weather items from knitting groups, schools, and service organizations as well as individuals. The greatest need is for children's sizes.

Last year, MPTV collected 4,150 items and distributed them free of charge to 36 selected agencies and schools in southeastern Wisconsin. Teachers and service providers were able to give mittens and other warm winter items to children and families who didn't have them.

Drop-off sites will be available beginning October 7. For more information, go to or call 414-297-7514 or 414-297-7520.
