MPTV HIRES NEW MARKETING MANAGER TO OVERSEE ITS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS

September 25, 2013

MPTV Also Promotes Thay Yang As New Manager of Creative Services

Milwaukee Public Television has named Julie Hill Lehr as Manager of Marketing and Community Engagement, effective September 24. Hill Lehr will oversee MPTV's Marketing and Community Engagement.

"I'm so excited about this wonderful opportunity with Milwaukee Public Television," Hill Lehr said, "I'm eager to get started and hope that I can help bring heightened awareness of our educational, inspirational, and thought-provoking programming to new audiences in our community."

Hill Lehr's responsibilities will include implementing a comprehensive, strategic communications plan that will strengthen the MPTV brand and convey relevant information to external and internal audiences; overseeing staff working on communications including web content, Internet projects, media relations, promotion, publicity, social media, listings, advertising, publications, and branding; and serving as an MPTV spokesperson.

Hill Lehr has been a multi-media professional for more than a decade. She has worked in print, web, radio, and television. Her experience includes working for GE Healthcare as Manager of Patient Education for The Patient Channel. She also served as Manager of Hospital Networks Programming and Production for NBC Digital Health and The Wellness Network. Most recently she was a Marketing Consultant at Columbia St. Mary's.

Throughout her career, Hill Lehr has made being involved in her community a priority. Her community involvement includes volunteer work to improve health and education. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Film from the University of Missouri-Columbia, as well as a Bachelor of Broadcast Journalism from that same school. Hill Lehr has received many media awards for writing and producing, including the Freddie Awards in International Health and Medical Media, Telly Awards, Aurora Awards, and the Communicator Awards.

Also, MPTV has re-structured its creative functions and merged them into a Creative Services department, naming Thay Yang as Manager of Creative Services. Yang was previously the Creative Services Coordinator for 13 years at MPTV. In this new role, Yang will oversee graphic designs for broadcast, in print media and on the web, as well as Scenic Design. Also, MPTV is bringing the production of its Fine Tuning magazine, a monthly publication for its donor viewers, in-house, and Yang will manage this effort as well.

"I look forward to developing this new department as our needs arise and our needs change at MPTV," said Yang. "This will offer me and the Creative Services staff new opportunities to be creative and broaden our skills."

Yang graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) with a degree in Graphics & Illustration. Prior to joining MPTV in 2000, Yang was the head of the Graphics department at CBS-58 and prior to that, he was a Production Coordinator at FOX-6.
