MPTV RECEIVES FOUR 2013 EMMY NOMINATIONS

The Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced that Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV) has been nominated for four 2013 Emmy Awards.

¡ADELANTE! is nominated for Outstanding Achievement for Public Affairs/Current Affairs Programming. Currently in its 15th season, the weekly, locally-produced series celebrates the rich heritage of Latino people. Patricia Gomez produces and hosts the program that airs in Spanish with subtitles in English, and program segments originally taped in English are captioned in Spanish. ¡ADELANTE! airs on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. on MPTV HD 10.1 and 36.2

AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN McGIVERN is nominated for Outstanding Achievement for Magazine Programming. Hosted by John McGivern, the program features communities from across Wisconsin, focusing on the unique qualities of one area in each episode. Producer Lois Maurer, Historian John Gurda, and McGivern go behind the scenes to talk with employers, residents and other people familiar with the locale to discover how they live, work and play. AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN McGIVERN airs on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. on MPTV HD 10.1 and 36.2.

FIELD OF HONOR: A SALUTE TO THE GREATEST GENERATION is nominated for Outstanding Achievement for Special Event Coverage. In August 2011, thousands of World War II veterans from Wisconsin were honored at Miller Park and MPTV covered this spectacular event. The special featured veterans discussing the impact of the war on their lives, along with footage from honor flights to the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. FIELD OF HONOR premiered on August 20, 2012. Producer Everett Marshburn and Executive Producer Raul Galvan developed this inspiring program.

Senior Videographer Michael Garvin is nominated for Outstanding Crafts Achievement Off-Air - Technical Achievement. Garvin is recognized for his work on MPTV's special holiday production CHRISTMAS IN THE BASILICA WITH BEL CANTO CHORUS, which aired on December 23, 2012. The special featured Milwaukee's Bel Canto Chorus' performance at the historic St. Josaphat's Basilica.

The Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards Ceremony will be held Sunday, November 3 in Chicago.
