TWO LOCALLY-PRODUCED MPTV PROGRAMS WIN TOP HONORS AT EMMYS

Two Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV) programs won 2012-2013 Chicago/Midwest Emmy awards at the ceremony in Chicago on November 3. The Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honors the best and brightest television and media professionals from all disciplines of the industry from all its chapter markets.

AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN won the award for Outstanding Achievement for Magazine Programming. AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN explores a new community each week and features communities from across Wisconsin, Host John McGivern goes behind the scenes to talk with employers, residents and other people familiar with the locale to discover how they live, work and play. The series is produced by Lois Maurer, and also features segments hosted by Milwaukee historian John Gurda. This program airs Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. on MPTV HD 10.1 and 36.2.

¡ADELANTE! was awarded Outstanding Achievement for Public Affairs/Current Affairs Programming. Currently in its 15th season, ¡ADELANTE! is a weekly, locally produced series celebrating the rich heritage of Latino people. The program airs in Spanish with subtitles in English and program segments originally taped in English are captioned in Spanish. The series is produced and hosted by Patricia Gomez. Catch ¡ADELANTE! on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. MPTV HD 10.1 and 36.2.
