OUTDOOR WISCONSIN CELEBRATES 30 CONSECUTIVE SEASONS ON MPTV
January 6, 2014
After more than 1,500 episodes, hundreds of pheasant, duck and deer hunts and more outdoor adventures than anyone can count, Milwaukee Public Television's (MPTV) longest-running series will premiere its 30th season on January 9.
"It's been a great ride," said Outdoor Wisconsin host Dan Small. "But it's not over yet. We've explored most corners of Wisconsin, enjoyed a great variety of outdoor activities and met hundreds of interesting people, but there are still places we haven't been to, more adventures to try and more people to meet. We're excited about launching our 30th season, and we hope our viewers are eager to join us."
Dan Small has been the host of OUTDOOR WISCONSIN since its premiere in November 1984. He is also contributing editor of Wisconsin Outdoor News, a bi-weekly newspaper that covers outdoor activities, environmental concerns and other items of interest to Wisconsin's sportsmen and women. He is an avid outdoorsman and a widely published writer with credits in national and regional magazines. His writing has won numerous awards in regional and national competition.
The series launches its 30th season with a ladies ice fishing adventure on Lake Winnebago. Dan Small will demonstrate how to still hunt for deer, and look back to 1988 is taken, when legendary bow hunter Art LaHa shared an important lesson about ravens and deer.
OUTDOOR WISCONSIN consistently ranks in the top 20 of all public television programs seen in the Milwaukee area. The show's popularity is due, in part, to the program's diverse subject matter, including topics such as hunting, fishing, conservation, camping, biking, wildlife observation, safety, habitat management, endangered species, pollution abatement and conservation.
OUTDOOR WISCONSIN airs on Thursdays as part of MPTV's prime-time line-up of some of its most popular local and national programs. The Thursday night line-up is:
7:00 PM AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN
7:30 PM WISCONSIN FOODIE
8:00 PM THIS OLD HOUSE
8:30 PM ASK THIS OLD HOUSE
9:00 PM OUTDOOR WISCONSIN
9:30 PM THE RED GREEN SHOW
This line-up is broadcast on MPTV 10.1 HD and 36.2. Episodes of OUTDOOR WISCONSIN are re-broadcast on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. on MPTV 10.1 HD and 36.2.
Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV) is southeastern Wisconsin's premier non-commercial media organization. MPTV consists of two high-definition television stations, WMVS and WMVT, and seven additional digital television services. The MPTV stations are the area's only over-the-air source for PBS and other national public television programs, and also offer a diverse schedule of their own award-winning local series and specials. The stations are watched by over 900,000 viewers each week throughout southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
