BLACK NOUVEAU WINS THREE FIRST PLACE AWARDS FROM NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR BLACK JOURNALISTS

Milwaukee's own BLACK NOUVEAU won three first place awards at the National Association for Black Journalists' 2014 Salute To Excellence Awards, in the Documentary, Public Affairs Program and Public Affairs Segment categories (Markets 16 and Under). With its 23rd season premiering in the fall, BLACK NOUVEAU fulfills Milwaukee Public Television's (MPTV) goal of offering programs with topics of importance to the diverse viewership it serves.
"We are honored that our peers recognize the work we do to tell stories that speak to the diversity and strength of our community," said Everett L. Marshburn, one of the producers of BLACK NOUVEAU.

BLACK NOUVEAU is one of the nation's longest running local weekly series. The program looks at issues, culture, history and challenges affecting African Americans. The program's 23rd season will premiere on Wednesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m. on MPTV 10.
The Salute to Excellence Awards honors work from print, television, radio, online, photojournalism and public relations. Winners were announced at a gala celebration during NABJ's 39th Annual Convention and Career Fair in Boston on August 2, 2014.
Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV) is southeastern Wisconsin's premier non-commercial media organization.
