Auction Tops $1 million Again
May 8, 2007
The Great TV Auction, a major fundraiser for Milwaukee Public Television, earned $1,107,114 during its 39th annual run April 27-May 5. The final figure surpassed the $1 million mark for the 19th consecutive year.
The live, televised event aired from the auction's headquarters at 12560 W. Townsend Rd., Brookfield, where approximately 1,500 volunteers worked for months to make it a success. More than 15,000 items were sold on the air this year during the nine-day event.
This year's total was less than last year's recording-breaking $1,209,053 but substantially more than the 2005 total of $1,003,981, according to Art Langlas, auction manager.
