Chief Holton on Black Nouveau
December 3, 2007
Milwaukee's new chief of its Fire Department, Doug Holton, will be interviewed on Milwaukee Public Television's Black Nouveau Wednesday, Dec. 5, on MPTV-10 at 6:30 p.m.
Holton was named to his position by the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission in April after serving as the fire chief in St. Paul, Minnesota, since 2003. He was a firefighter in Milwaukee for many years before leaving to become St. Paul's fire chief.
He joined Milwaukee's department in 1978 and was promoted up the ranks. He
was a deputy chief in charge of suppression at the time of his departure.
Other topics on this edition of Black Nouveau include the challenges facing African-American developers in Milwaukee; GoBlackBiz.com, a new website connecting black consumers with black businesses; and a tour of Eatonville, birthplace of writer Zora Neale Hurston.
Faithe Colas and Keith Murphy are Black Nouveau's co-hosts. The weekly series is designed to promote a better understanding of African Americans, to explore issues, and to present stories that educate and inform.
