January 11, 2008
¡Adelante!--Milwaukee Public Television's Spanish language program for Latinos--will look at an advocacy program for victims of sexual assault in its next episode Tuesday, Jan. 22, on Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV-10) and MPTV-HD at 6:30 p.m.
The program, called Compassionate Care, is designed to ensure that rape victims learn about emergency contraception in every Wisconsin emergency room, and receive the medication upon request to prevent a pregnancy following assault.
Terrie Garcia, President of the Hispanic Association of Nurses in Wisconsin, also will join the program to discuss her organization. Marquette University's Manuel Santiago will explain Medal, a career exploration program focused on medicine, architecture, law, dentistry and engineering presented in conjunction with several post-secondary institutions.
¡Adelante! covers topics ranging from immigration issues and HIV counseling to Latino artists. The program repeats on Channel 36 the same evening at 12:30 a.m. and Sundays at 5:30 p.m. Patricia Gomez is the host and producer. The program is broadcast with English captions. English portions are subtitled in Spanish. ###
