February 1, 2008
An interview with Ray W. Taylor, long-time editor of the Milwaukee Labor Press and the Wisconsin Teamster, will be repeated on I Remember on Monday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m. on Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV-10 and MPTV-HD).
Taylor, who died at age 91 on Jan. 29, appeared on I Remember on Nov. 10, 2003.
A union organizer in the 1930s, Taylor became involved with the International Labor Press association after WWII. In 1954, he became editor of the Milwaukee Labor Press, the largest weekly labor publication in the United States at the time. During his career he interviewed John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman and many other statesmen, politicians, and celebrities.
Taylor retired in the early 1980s as editor of the Press but continued to edit the Wisconsin Teamster and continued to go to the office until he was 88 years old.
I Remember repeats Monday evenings on Channel 36 at 12:30 a.m. The host for the program is talk show veteran Jim Peck, currently a senior advancement officer at Marquette University.
