Student Programs to Air

Milwaukee Public Television's annual, daylong presentation of student productions will feature a local appearance of Gaelic Storm, an internationally acclaimed Irish Rock band, on MPTV-36, Saturday, April 19, at 7 p.m.
MPTV will show the work of students in the Milwaukee Area Technical College Television and Production program continuously on MPTV-36 from 8:30 a.m. April 19 to the early morning hours of Sunday, April 20, ending at 1:30 a.m. Programs airing between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. will be live.
The 90-minute Gaelic Storm program was taped March 14 at the Pabst Theater. Other Student Operations 2008 programs include Co-Exist, a look at the challenges of living abroad; Pitbulls: Vicious or Family Friendly? and The Side Walk, a magazine show highlighting the African American community.
A one-hour movie, Vendetta, will tell the story of a mafia hit man. Another program will profile the Afro Cuban Latin Jazz group De La Buena.
Second year student Brian Kasprzak is general manager for Student Operations 2008 and Jeff Janca, also a second year student, is the program director. The students are completely responsible for producing and directing the "Student Ops" programs, as well as audio, camera, and related duties. MPTV is a viewer-supported service of MATC.
