Kennan Forum on MPTV
April 17, 2008
The Kennan Forum, a 90-minute program featuring two internationally known journalists, David Marash and Claudia Rosett, will present "Election 2008: Foreign Policy and the Media" on Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV-36) Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. and be repeated Monday, May 5, on MPTV-10 at 11 p.m.
The forum, held annually at the Pabst Theater, explores the role of the media in framing foreign policy issues prior to the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Ben Merens, Wisconsin Public Radio, is the moderator. The program was recorded April 17.
Marash is a Washington anchor of the recently launched Al-Jazeera English. He reported for ABC News "Nightline" from 1989 to 2005. The Emmy-Award winning journalist most recently covered the war in Iraq and post-war reconstruction efforts for "Nightline."
Rosett writes on international affairs, drawing on 22 years of experience as a journalist and editor, reporting from Asia, the former Soviet Union, Latin America and the Middle East. Now in New York, she writes regularly for The Wall Street Journal and other publications.
The George F. Kennan Forum is a nationally recognized symposium that addresses significant issues vital to United States foreign policy. The annual presentation is a project of the Institute of World Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. MPTV is a viewer-supported service of Milwaukee Area Technical College.
