Award-winning investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill discusses global wars, private armies and public money in the first annual Frank P. Zeidler Memorial Lecture on Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV-36) Sunday, May 4, at 3 p.m.

The lecture series celebrates the life and ideals of Frank Zeidler (1912-2006) who served as mayor of Milwaukee from 1948 to1960. Zeidler promoted the causes of peace, democracy, economic progress, and a clean environment. He also was instrumental in the founding of Milwaukee Public Television.

Scahill, a Milwaukee native, wrote "Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army." The book received the prestigious George Polk Award. His lecture, "Global Wars, Private Armies and Public Money," was taped March 25 in the Milwaukee Public Library's Centennial Hall.

The 90-minute program is an MPTV production. Raul Galvan is the executive producer and Jane Bieterman is the producer.
