Tracks Ahead Travels Premieres
April 30, 2008
Tracks Ahead Travels, a new, nine-part Milwaukee Public Television series that combines stories about Japan's most famous trains with highlights from exotic tourist destinations around the world, will premiere on Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV-10) Saturday, May 10, at 5:30 p.m.
Created by the producers of Tracks Ahead, each program offers a new segment shot in Japan. They include a trip on the Hakone Tozen line that ends in an active volcanic region, a ride on Japan's sleek Shinkansen bullet train, a visit to the flagship store of a premiere model builder in Tokyo, an exploration of Japan Rail's steam museum in Kyoto, and other stories.
Each episode also replays some favorite Tracks Ahead segments featuring Australia, Mexico, Cuba, Poland and Ireland, along with other locations in the United Stations and other countries.
An old logging railroad near Mt. Rainier, Mexico's Copper Canyon, Union Station in Washington, D.C., Australia's Puffing Billy, the world's largest HO layout in Germany, and a steam trip through Ireland's Suir Valley are among the highlights.
Creator and senior producer of the series is David Baule.
