Auction Earns $1 Million Plus

The Great TV Auction, a major fundraiser for Milwaukee Public Television, earned $1,207,620 during its 40th anniversary run April 25-May 3. The final figure surpassed the $1 million mark for the 20th consecutive year.
The live, televised event aired from the auction's headquarters at 12560 W. Townsend Rd., Brookfield, where approximately 3,000 volunteers worked for months to make it a success. More than 19,000 items were sold on the air this year during the nine-day event.
Auction purchases can be claimed at the headquarters' Pick Up and Pay location through Wednesday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For shipping, call 1-262-781-4998.
The Great TV Auction was recognized as the best of the 61 public television auctions in the country at the PBS Development Conference in 2006. The Friends annually raise more than $5.5 million in support of programming at Milwaukee Public Television.
