MPTV's Community Cinema Explores the Buildup and Unraveling of the Chicago Conspiracy Trial of 1968
A free film screening from the Independent Lens series "Chicago 10" will premier at Discovery World's Innovation Theatre, 500 North Harbor Drive on Thursday, October 16 at 7pm.
The year was 1968. A war in a foreign land was tearing people apart, and the president's approval rating was at an all-time low. The country was divided. Many felt America was lost, without a moral compass. And young Americans took to the streets to change the world. During the 40th anniversary of this pivotal year in world history, writer and director Brett Morgen boldly mixes original animation with extraordinary archival footage--taking you inside the courtroom to experience firsthand the riveting drama, legal wrangling and raucous political theater. The screening is free and open to the public. A discussion led by Kristen Foster Ph.D., Assistant Professor History at Marquette University will follow the film.
