Milwaukee, WI - MPTV's 15TH annual READING RAINBOW contest for children in kindergarten through third grade is accepting illustrated stories through 5 p.m., March 2nd. Teachers and parents in southeastern Wisconsin are encouraged to inform their students and children about their eligibility. Entries are judged on creative expression, storytelling, originality, and related qualities.

To date, MPTV has had 12 national winners in the young writers and illustrators contest, and is the only public television station to have three national winners in one year. Top national winners in each grade level win a flat screen TV with DVD player. Each 2nd place prize is a digital camera. The 3rd place winners receive MP3 players.

The 20 local winners are invited to an awards ceremony and reception in May. Local winning entries are also videotaped and aired on MPTV-10 & 10.1 HD & 36 & 36.1. All entries are acknowledged with a certificate and small prize.

Funding for the READING RAINBOW Project is provided by the Assurant Health Foundation, the Law Firm of Hupy and Abraham, and the Harley Davidson Foundation. READING RAINBOW airs Sundays at 9:30 a.m. on MPTV-10 &10.1 and weekdays at 2:30 p.m. on MPTV-36 & 36.1
