MPTV FRIENDS HIRES RICK LORE FROM PBS
April 22, 2009
Milwaukee, WI - Rick Lore, former director of on-air fundraising at PBS Headquarters in Washington, D.C., has taken the helm as the new executive director of the MPTV Friends. The Friends raises funds through its membership, Great TV Auction, special events, and corporate sponsorships to support programming and equipment maintenance for MPTV/Milwaukee Public Television.
When asked what attracted him to Milwaukee, Lore responded that Milwaukee is alone in producing over nine locally produced programs (I Remember, ¡Adelante!, Black Nouveau, Outdoor Wisconsin, InterCHANGE, Tracks Ahead, 4th Street Forum, Ethically Milwaukee, and local documentaries--A Braves New World and the Circus Parade). "After 50 plus station visits, one develops a sense - that occurs almost immediately--of the tenor and spirit of an organization. MPTV station staff and Friends organization already stand out as among the best."
Lore began his career in public television in San Jose at KTEH as the telemarketing manager, and moved up to membership director, and then led the station's auction and special events. He served as development director at Dayton PBS and New Hampshire Public Television. He has received seven PBS Development Awards for his efforts. Lore also brings experience as an actor and director in 75 theatrical productions. He received his BA in Cinema at Long Island University
