Milwaukee, WI - MPTV shares the magic of the Urban Ecology Center (UEC) in a new 30-minute documentary, NATURE IN THE CITY. The 16 year-old center on Milwaukee's riverfront sprouted from humble beginnings to become one of the world's premier urban ecology centers and has positively and dramatically impacted the lives many children and young adults--many of whom are disadvantaged.
Ken Leinbach, the charismatic and visionary leader of the center and its long-time education director Beth Fetterley tell the story of how 15 acres of urban blight were transformed for the good of urban children and urban ecology. Also featured are the volunteers, teachers, and neighbors, along with County Supervisor Gerry Broderick and County Parks Director Sue Black.
A free public screening will be held as part of the MPTV Community Cinema series on Wed., May 13 at 7 pm, at the Discovery World Innovation Theatre, 500 North Harbor Drive. A discussion follows with panelists including UEC's Ken Leinbach and County Supervisor Gerry Broderick.
The program will be broadcast on MPTV 10.1 High Definition on Wed., May 27 at 9:30 pm, and repeated on May 28 at 6:30 pm.
