September 16, 2010

-Kids got going to prove they could meet the challenge-

Milwaukee, WI (September 14, 2010)- MPTV Friends presented I AM THE F!T GENERATION Healthy Habits Challenge for children ages 4-12, and nearly 5,000 kids participated. MPTV launched the pilot outreach initiative with its partners Children's Health Education Center and Children's Hospital's NEW KIDS in April 2010. Obesity in children has become an epidemic over the past 20 years, and the likelihood that an American child will be overweight has tripled. I AM THE FIT GENERATION addresses this troubling trend by emphasizing healthy nutrition and exercise choices. The Challenge asks kids to choose "5 4 3 2 1 Go!"

  • 4 daily servings of water

  • 3 daily servings of low-fat dairy

  • 2 or fewer daily hours of TV or computer time

  • 1 or more daily hours of physical activity

  • Generously supporting the pilot are several Milwaukee organizations: Brewers Community Foundation, Cordon Family Foundation, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Dorothy Watkins Inbusch Foundation, and the Charles D. Jacobus Family Foundation.

The pilot program includes several other components in addition to the Challenge:
