FUNNY FACE WINS AWARD FOR CIRCUS PARADE CARRIAGE PRINT DESIGN
Milwaukee, WI -- (January 25, 2011) MPTV is one of 24 public broadcasters honored by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) at its annual conference held in Nashville earlier this month. MPTV received the NETA Award in the Print Design promotion category for its Great Circus Parade Station Carriage Promotion. The 7" x 14" brochure features MPTV 10.1 HD Programmer Tom Dvorak in clown make up on the cover and without inside. The piece was designed by the station's advertising agency Eichenbaum/Associates in Milwaukee.
Dvorak, a resident of Cedarburg, says, "The idea for the brochure came from collaboration between Eichenbaum staff and station staff. I needed something that would standout from other information programmers receive about up coming shows. Making me up as a clown certainly caught the attention of my fellow programmers."
Judges' comments included, "It immediately made me want to air the program. I laughed out loud at this. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it from another station. It was smart, funny and well-executed and really used the circus theme well." And, "I just loved the heck out of this entry."
The MPTV Great Circus Parade was broadcast live in July of 2009 in Milwaukee and 106 other markets. The DVD is available from MPTV for $28.45 at http://shop.mptvfriends.org/product.sc?productId=65&categoryId=3
