Milwaukee, WI -- (March 16, 2011) MPTV/MATC television production student Nathaniel (Nate) Schardin tied for first place in the 2011 Media Communications Association-International (MCA-I) "Video Cirque 2011" held at UWM by the Milwaukee Chapter. PERSEVERANCE: CLIMBING THE FLATLAND is Schardin's surprising discovery of ice and rock climbing near Green Bay, Wisconsin. The full program will premiere on MPTV 36.1 on May 14, on Student Ops Day. Last October, Schardin and fellow MPTV student producers Jacob Fatke and Antonio Cole were nominated for a Category #S-4 - College Student Production: Information Program/Segment award by the 2009-2010 Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Emmy Awards. In addition to this nomination, Schardin, Fatke, and Cole were honored this month with a first place award at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Awards for Excellence: New Series/Documentary (TV). Schardin is a graduate of Nicolet High School in Glendale, and now lives in Milwaukee.
