MPTV Mitten Drive Has Warm Ending

Milwaukee Public Television's 4th annual "Mittens and More" campaign has collected a total of 3,587 new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves, according to Darlyne Haertlein, MPTV's community relations manager.
"Many of these items were donated by individuals who knitted all year to contribute to this community service project," she said, "and 85 percent of the gifts were hand-knit or hand-sewn."
In addition to individuals, a number of community groups made or collected donations for the drive. The warm winter apparel is given to schools and agencies for distribution to the families they serve free of charge.
"We are very grateful to everyone who helped us," Haertlein said. "You are making hearts and hands warmer this winter."
