MPTV's Holiday Online Auction Raises Over $81,000
December 26, 2011
MILWAUKEE, Wis., Dec. 26, 2011 - Over 9,200 bids resulted in $81,730 raised during Milwaukee Public Television's Holiday Online Auction. The auction ran from October 20th to November 30th and over 2,000 items were sold.
Sponsored by Ken Cook Co., 2011 marked the third consecutive year of the MPTV Holiday Online Auction, organized by the MPTV Friends. The MPTV Holiday Online Auction offered MPTV supporters the opportunity to give meaningful holiday gifts. Auction items included vacation packages, furniture, artwork, jewelry, gift certificates and one-of-a-kind or unique pieces.
"The feedback from both our buyers and donors has been wonderful. Buyers enjoy being able to read about items and place bids anytime during the day - 24 hours a day," said Mike McKenzie, Auction Director. "Donors appreciate us linking the bidding page to their webpage. This lets interested bidders visit their site and learn about their business before placing a bid."
The MPTV Holiday Online Auction differs from the traditional Channel 10 Great TV Auction. The Holiday Online Auction is an online-only auction, while the Great TV Auction is an on-air event that has been running for 42 years.
All proceeds benefit Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV), southeastern Wisconsin's premier non-commercial media organization. MPTV consists of two traditional television stations, WMVS and WMVT, and seven additional digital television services. The MPTV stations are the area's only over-the-air source for PBS and other national public television programs, and also offer a diverse schedule of their own award-winning local series and specials. The station is watched by over 900,000 viewers each week throughout southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
