MPTV FRIENDS TO TRANSFER FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES FOR CHANNELS 10&36 TO MILWAUKEE PUBLIC TELEVISION

January 23, 2012

MILWAUKEE, Wis., Jan. 23, 2012 - MPTV Friends, Inc. ("Friends") and Milwaukee Public Television ("MPTV") stations WMVS (Channel 10) and WMVT (Channel 36), a part of Milwaukee Area Technical College ("MATC"), today announced that they will combine the fund raising activities of the two groups into one effort.

The Friends and MPTV had previously operated as two independent organizations. Under the terms of the agreement, the Friends will phase out operations in 2012 and continue to support public TV during the transition. According to MPTV General Manager Ellis Bromberg, many current Friends employees will join the MPTV staff in early 2012 and continue to coordinate the Great TV Auction and other popular fundraising events viewers, volunteers, and community supporters have come to know and love.

"The generosity of our supporters is the backbone of the success of Milwaukee Public Television, and aligning our two operations will help bring even more high-quality programming viewers have come to expect," Bromberg said.

He praised the Friends, and said the new plan mirrors what nearly every public television station does. "We've always shared the goal of bringing the community the best in public television programming. This agreement strengthens our relationship and makes our stations even better by allowing us to devote more resources to present new and exciting entertainment and educational offerings," said Bromberg.

MPTV is a community-supported service of Milwaukee Area Technical College. Since its inception, MPTV has inspired, entertained, and made an impact on the residents of southeastern Wisconsin. Today, MPTV offers viewers a family of 10 digital channels, a full-service website, locally produced programming, outreach services for all ages, and numerous support opportunities.
