MILWAUKEE, Wis., Feb. 1, 2012 - An upcoming episode of ¡Adelante!, a Milwaukee Public Television-produced local show, will highlight the issue of workplace abuse of undocumented workers in the United States. The episode airs Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. on MPTV HD 10.1 and 36.2.

Dennis McBride, attorney for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), will be a guest on ¡Adelante!, discussing a case in Iowa of sexual abuse of female undocumented workers at an egg-processing plant. (EEOC v. Iowa Ag, L.L.C. and Austin J. DeCoster d/b/a DeCoster Farms of Iowa) The Iowa Coalition of Domestic Violence alerted the EEOC of the widespread rapes of 11 Spanish-speaking workers at the plant by their supervisors. Within a week of the initial call, the EEOC had filed a preliminary injunction against the company. The case resulted in a judgment of over $1.5 million, which primarily was split among the 11 victims, with a portion awarded to the Iowa Coalition of Domestic Violence.

During the interview, McBride stated that the main message the EEOC wanted to inform the public of was that no one will be deported who is a victim of a sexual crime, among other crimes. In the Iowa case, McBride was able to obtain U-VISAs for all of the victims who wished to remain in the country. Said McBride, "Discrimination is discrimination. The EEOC will protect all workers."
