MILWAUKEE, Wis., Feb. 6, 2012 - As part of its Black History Month programming throughout the month of February, Milwaukee Public Television is airing a special BLACK NOUVEAU on Tuesday, February 7th at 9:30 p.m. on MPTV 10.1 HD and 36.2, and will be re-broadcast on Friday, February 10th at 10:30 p.m. on MPTV 10.1 HD and 36.2. "Harry Kemp: The Photography Man" highlights his work that chronicled life in Milwaukee, with an emphasis on the African American communities.

If there was news in Milwaukee in the last 40 years, photographer Harry Kemp took the picture. He was a freelancer for the Milwaukee Community Journal and official photographer of the Milwaukee Brewers. It is estimated that he took more than one million pictures in Milwaukee. The special edition of BLACK NOUVEAU, with guest host Joanne Williams, will feature hundreds of pictures taken by Harry Kemp from the 1960's to 2011.

Now in its 20th season, BLACK NOUVEAU has long been embraced and lauded by the community as one of the most accurate and positive perspectives of African American life in Milwaukee. The award-winning program is replete with messages that promote positive images, interviews and profiles of African-American movers and shakers. BLACK NOUVEAU explores the history, heritage, culture and challenges of the African-American experience. The weekly series explores issues and presents stories that educate, inform and provide hope to the black community. The program also serves as an agent for positive change within the community at large.
