New Daniel Tiger Program Joins Children's Shows
August 20, 2012
A new program, DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD, will join Milwaukee Public Television's extensive line-up of children's fare this fall. The animated PBS series features stories and music based on the work of Fred Rogers.
The new series will premiere Monday, Sept. 3, with two episodes shown at 10 and 10:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on MPTV HD 10.1. Its regular slot will be Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on MPTV HD 10.1.
Designed for preschoolers aged 2-4, the show's lead character is the son of the timid little tiger who regularly appeared on MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD. The other cast members are O the Owl, Katerina Kittycat, Prince Wednesday, and Miss Elaina--all children of the original MISTER ROGERS' Neighborhood of Make-Believe characters.
DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD focuses on giving parents and children ways to develop key social skills together through songs and activities. The series was developed by The Fred Rogers Company.
Children's programming airs on MPTV HD 10.1 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Provided by PBS KIDS, the shows range from classics like SESAME STREET and CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG to such favorites as CYBERCHASE and WORDWORLD. Some of the shows will air at new times this fall.
