Mitten Drive Begins Oct. 8
September 14, 2012
Milwaukee Public Television will hold its 5th annual drive for "Mittens and More" Oct. 8-26. The community service project provides new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves to help families who are in need this winter.
"We hope community groups and individuals will work together to knit, sew or buy new items to help keep both hands and hearts warm this winter," said Darlyne Haertlein, MPTV's community relations manager. "The greatest need is for children's sizes."
In 2011, MPTV received 3,587 donations and distributed them free of charge to 36 agencies and schools. The warm winter accessories were given to children and families who needed them. Several drop-off sites will be available beginning Oct. 8. They include MATC's downtown, north, south and west campuses, the MPTV Auction site, the Racine and Waukesha sites of the Copacetic Company, and The Country Springs Hotel.
For directions and hours, go to MPTV.org or call 414-297-7520 or 414-297-7514.
