10.1	The Enchanted Island	The world's best singers and the glorious music of the Baroque masters combine, as Lovers from Shakespeare's “A Midsummer Night's Dream” are shipwrecked on the other-worldly island of The Tempest. Inspired by the 18th century tradition of operatic “pasticcios” (pastiches), librettos are combined with music from various compositions to create entirely new theatrical pieces. Arias and ensembles by Handel, Vivaldi, Rameau and others are showcased. Devised and written by the acclaimed British theater artist Jeremy Sams in his Met debut. Renowned Baroque specialist William Christie conducts. Starring: Danielle de Niese, Joyce DiDonato, David Daniels, Plácido Domingo, and Luca Pisaroni. 36.1	Satyagraha	Richard Croft portrays Gandhi in Philip Glass' unforgettable opera, "Satyagraha," (Sanskrit for “truth force”). The opera is based on Mahatma Gandhi’s early life in South Africa, where he developed the revolutionary philosophy of non-violent resistance that continues to be used in protests around the world. 36.1	Rodelinda	Renee Fleming reprises one of her most popular interpretations: the title role in Handel’s "Rodelinda," under the baton of Baroque specialist Harry Bicket in the revival of Stephen Wadsworth’s acclaimed production. Andreas Scholl stars as the exiled king Bertarido and Stephanie Blythe as his sister Eduige. English countertenor Iestyn Davies makes his Met debut as Bertarido’s faithful friend Unulfo, and, in Met role debuts, Joseph Kaiser sings the usurper Grimoaldo and Shenyang the corrupt royal advisor Garibaldo. 36.1	Faust	Three of the opera world’s leading stars--Jonas Kaufmann, Marina Poplavskaya, and Rene Pape sing the principal roles in a new production of Gounod’s Faust, directed by Tony Award-winner Des McAnuff in his Met debut. Yannick Nézet-Seguin conducts his first Met performances of the opera. Ssoprano Michele Losier makes her house role debut as the student Siebel and Russell Braun makes his in the role of Marguerite’s soldier brother, Valentin.
