Curtis is the president of the "Society of the War of 1812" in the State of Wisconsin, and has a personal connection to the War that started 200 years ago. He is a descendent of General Major Morgan Lewis, who served during the War of 1812 as the Quartermaster General of the U.S. Army and commanded the Battle of Fort George.
